Kiosk Pro FAQ

Kiosk Pro FAQ

Kiosk Pro is a flexible browser for iOS & iPadOS that turns your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch into a public kiosk.

Our apps are easy to set up, allowing you to customize how your content is presented on the iPad. You just need Kiosk Pro, an enclosure to protect your device, and the content you want to share with your visitors.

Our apps are covered by Apple’s standard end-user license agreement and App Store terms, which require purchasing a license for each individual kiosk in a public setting.

Apple’s free Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager programs can streamline purchasing and managing licensing for multiple devices.

If you are new to Kiosk Pro, you may want to start out with the free Lite version to become familiar with the basics of what Kiosk Pro can do before making a purchase.

For projects with more than 50 kiosks or those that are distributed across multiple locations, we recommend our Plus and Enterprise versions as they support Apple frameworks like Managed App Configuration and Autonomous Single App Mode that are considered best practices for larger deployments.

More information about the differences between each version is available here.

Kiosk Pro is based on Apple's WKWebView browser, operating similarly to Safari for iPad, and is designed to present web-friendly content and media as a customized kiosk app.

For optimal performance, your content should be coded as web pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Kiosk Pro can also display PDFs and iPad-compatible audio and video files.

Kiosk Pro was introduced alongside the first iPad back in 2010 and has continued to evolve on that platform ever since.

Current versions of Kiosk Pro Lite, Basic, and Plus can run on any device running iOS or iPadOS 9.3.5 or later. Kiosk Pro Enterprise can run on any device running iOS or iPadOS 10 or later.

Kiosk Pro is compatible with:

• 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2021, 2020, 2018, 2017, 2015)

• 11-inch iPad Pro (2021, 2020, 2018)

• 10.9-inch iPad Air (2020)

Kiosk Pro is not currently available for other operating systems, including Android or Windows.

With the right iPad configuration, you can prevent visitors from leaving Kiosk Pro. You can use the iOS/iPadOS Guided Access feature to disable multitasking gestures and the Home button, or you can lock down the iPad to Single App Mode using Apple Configurator or an MDM provider. A full list of options is available here.

No. In iOS/iPadOS, it is not possible for one app to control another native app or for an app to limit what is shown on the Home screen.

While it’s possible to move from one version to another, there is currently no way to ‘upgrade’ a license. Moving to a new version requires a full purchase. You may want to consider how your deployment will be used in the future as you decide which version to select.

All versions of the app are available on the App Store.

If you're reading this on an iPad or iPhone, you can find links to each app on our Download page, or you can go to the App Store and search for Kiosk Pro.

For larger projects, we recommend purchasing the app through Apple’s free Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager programs to simplify purchase and ongoing management of licensing.
